Here are some FAQs about Electric Vehicles (EV)

  1. What is an EV?: Vehicles with batteries that can be charged from external sources, like wall outlets or charging stations, are considered EVs or plug-in electric vehicles.

  2. Are EVs affordable?: With more than two dozen plug-in electric vehicles available under $40,000, EVs are becoming more affordable. Plus, they are a quarter of the cost of owning and operating a traditional gas-powered vehicle.

  3. How far do EVs travel?: The average person drives only 29 miles per day, and there are dozens of cars that can handle that distance. Some vehicles have ranges between 100 and 300 miles per charge.

  4. Do EVs reduce emissions?: When using basic service to charge, the equivalent annual emissions for a typical EV is 2,688 pounds of CO2, compared to 11,435 pounds of CO2 for gas-powered cars.

  5. Where can I charge an EV?: Ninety percent of EV owners charge at home, which can be done by plugging into a wall outlet or installing a Level 2 home charger.

  6. How long does an EV take to charge?: The time an EV takes to charge depends on the type of car and charger. Plugging in at home using a regular wall socket is the slowest method, but an EV will reach a full charge overnight. A public DC fast charger can provide most EVs with 80% capacity in around 30 minutes.
